Birthday Ideas

No matter how well you know the person coming up with a good birthday gift idea can be a little tricky.  You want something that the recipient will be excited about, something they will enjoy, and something that will let them know that you care about them.  Here are a few birthday gift ideas to get your creative juices flowing:

• A gift idea that works for anyone from the age of about 5 years old and up is a magazine subscription.  Choose a magazine that will help encourage one of their hobbies, something that you think they would enjoy.  You can purchase the latest copy of the magazine to present to them as the gift with a little note attached letting them know about the subscription.
• If you know the person well a photo album containing pictures of the person will be treasured.
• Another unique idea is to give them a gift basket.  Think of something they enjoy, for a little boy maybe it’s cars, or action figures, for an adult maybe it’s movies, candles, lotions, golfing, make-up, tools.  Fill a basket, or tote with an assortment of smaller things all centering around the same theme.
• A time capsule is a unique birthday gift idea for someone of any age.  Search the internet for ideas about what to include in the time capsule.
• Handmade gifts such as baked goods, something sown, jewelry, or a scrapbook will show a lot of time and love.
• Tickets to a movie, a concert, the zoo, an amusement park or a ball game are another fun and unique gift idea.  Perhaps it’s even something that you could do with the recipient.  Perhaps planning to take your buddy to the game and pick him up and drop him off.  The gift of the game as well as your time would be enjoyable.
• A TV package that contains more cartoons, cooking or decorating shows or sports channels is a great gift for the birthday person as well as the rest of the family.
• A DVD boxed set of a favorite television series or movie series is something that can be enjoyed repeatedly.
• Music and games are always changing so they make great gifts.  Whether the music is an MPs or a CD find something that you love and think the birthday person would enjoy.  If you know they have a favorite band or type of music try to find a CD by the band that the person doesn’t already own.  Games could be board games, computer games or the latest Wii game.  If they are true gamers some gaming accessories would be fun too.
• Buy gifts that will continue a set that they may already have.  For children this might include Legos, cars, Barbies, train, etc.
• When all else fails pre-paid gift cards are always appreciated and will be used.
